5 Ways You Can Have a Better Morning
Getting a good start to your morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. That can usually mean the difference between a positive, productive and good day, and, well, the opposite of that. So what can you do to make your morning better? Here are a few tips that can make a big impact on your morning.
1. Wake up early
If you’re not a morning person, this may sound impossible. But with a little practice and commitment, it can become habit. Here are some suggestions for making it easier.
Avoid the snooze button. The snooze button may feel great in the moment, but it actually makes you more tired.
If you have a family or roommates, wake up before everyone else. You’ll be more productive in those morning hours. Plus, the rest of this list will be impossible if you don’t.
2. Eat Breakfast
You’ve heard it before…breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You hear that for a reason…it’s true! The trick is to keep it healthy. Try eating foods like oatmeal, cereal, eggs and toast, fruit and yogurt.
Breakfast is going to give you the energy you need to attack the first half of the day with gusto. So do it right. Plus, eating foods that fuel your body correctly is a great mood booster.
3. A morning workout
No, we’re not talking about a 60 minute spin class at 5:00 a.m. But getting your body moving, your blood flowing and your heart rate up in the morning is key.
Try some light exercising or stretching. 15-20 minutes can be all you need. You don’t even have to leave the house to do it. Get some workout bands or search for a yoga workout on YouTube.
4. Plan your day
Taking 5-10 minutes to plan out your day helps you focus on what you really need to get done and sets you up for success. Think about what you want to do and how you’re going to do it.
One caution to planning, make sure you don’t over-schedule, overcommit, or even under-plan.
5. Leave 20 minutes early
Leaving just 20 minutes early will help you avoid the traffic, congestion, headaches and parking issues you may experience if you wait. Plus, you can take your time and arrive to work stress-free.
Leaving earlier will also make sure you get to work earlier. Which allows you time to get things done in the morning before everyone else comes in or gives you a few minutes to grab your coffee and check your email.
With a little planning you will be well on your way to better mornings, and better days, in no time.
